On December 13, 2025, our community gathered once again for the annual #JusticeForEddieDungan Christmas Card Event—a tradition rooted in compassion, remembrance, and the belief that humanity does not disappear behind prison walls. This year’s gathering was filled with warmth, reflection, and a shared commitment to ensuring that Adults in Custody (AICs) across Oregon know they are not forgotten.

We are deeply grateful to every person who showed up, wrote cards and helped spread the word. Because of your support, 210 holiday cards will be mailed this week to AICs across all 12 Oregon Department of Corrections facilities. In addition, our broader holiday card effort reached a total of 210 cards sent this season, marking our largest year yet.

A Growing Tradition of Connection

What began as a small act of solidarity has grown into a powerful annual tradition:

  • Year 1: 75 cards
  • Year 2: 100 cards
  • Year 3: 210 cards

Each card is randomly assigned using an automated system, ensuring fairness and allowing the holiday spirit to reach people who may not otherwise receive mail at all.

Why These Cards Matter

In the event recording, you’ll hear Tod Bailey speak about what it meant to receive a card during his time inside ODOC. His words echo what so many have shared: A simple card—at Christmas or any time of year—can be a lifeline. It represents time, effort, and the reminder that someone on the outside sees your humanity.I can personally relate. When you’re incarcerated, a card is more than paper. It’s proof that you haven’t been erased.

This year, ODOC’s mail regulations required us to send paper-copy cards rather than traditional greeting cards. Even with these restrictions, our hope remains the same: that each card reaches someone who connects with its message and feels encouraged to write back.

Our Commitment to Change

At Justice for Eddie Dungan, our mission is rooted in dignity, accountability, and truth. We reject the belief that people should be locked away and forgotten. AICs are human beings, not numbers. Their stories matter. Their lives matter.

Thank You for Standing With Us

Your support makes this work possible. Whether you wrote a card, shared a post, attended the event, or simply believe in the dignity of every person—thank you.

From all of us at Justice for Eddie Dungan, we wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and a safe, peaceful holiday season.

Together, we can make a difference.

Together, we keep the light shining.

Justice for Eddie Dungan
