Being part of the Justice for Eddie Dungan group has been an incredibly meaningful experience. This organization hosts multiple events throughout the year, creating opportunities to raise awareness and educate the public about ongoing issues within the Oregon Department of Corrections. The group plays a vital role in shedding light on the alarming number of deaths occurring within state facilities and exposing the harsh realities many adults in custody (AICs) face. Incarceration should never equate to a life-or-death sentence. AICs retain their constitutional rights, including those protected under the Eighth Amendment, which guarantees access to adequate medical care. Unfortunately, obtaining even basic treatment remains an uphill battle for many. If you are challenging the system and seeking support, I strongly encourage you to connect with this group. Their collective voice is powerful—and growing stronger with every person who joins the cause.
